name: Brennan Belfast
online handle: BerzerkBulletrain ("Zerk")
age: 24

premise: A recluse who has difficulty interacting with others. In order to avoid his family's expectations he made a contract with a demon of sloth. In exchange for more luck in online games he does additional work for his demon, something the entity calls "scary." He has convinced many people to give up and turn to sloth with his acerbic online persona.

personality:
•Outstandingly arrogant in the online world.
Due to his talent in understanding game code and mechanics, Brennan tends to showboat it up in online interactions. He feels that he's earned respect there and is far more valuable in a digital space than a physical one. He talks shit when he wins and looks for excuses if he ever loses. Many people are acutely aware of his skill but detest dealing with him.
•Outstandingly negative in the offline world.
Some would argue that Brennan gave up on the real world ages before he officially made his contract. Outside the world of online games, internet rituals, social media clout, and meme economy he's... useless. He hardly even tries to maintain his physical body, subsisting on junk food and irregular sleep patterns. All of the bravado from the internet is gone when encountered in person.
•Delusional Brocon.
By wholly detaching from his family and fleeing responsibility Brennan has driven a spike between him and his younger brother Aiden. That truth hurts him too much to admit so, like any good emotional escape artist, he simply acts like it didn't happen. He talks about his brother as if they were still both 16 and 10. He pretends that his brother would still adore him like he used to.
•Fearful of failure.
•Distrustful of kindness, weak to kindness.

history:
The oldest son of an affluent family, Brennan enjoyed significant freedom in his youth to pursue his hobbies. The things he wanted were never outside his reach, either due to his family's wealth or what he considered his own natural ability. When his younger brother was born, he doted on him and set about being the "best" big brother.

As he aged, he slowly grew into more responsibilities. Stress began to mount. Unable to cope and unable to understand why he couldn't cope, Brennan experienced significant mental health troubles during his teen years. He withdrew socially, preferring only to engage with things he was good at: computers and games. His parents took a distant approach, hoping he would grow out of the behavior as he aged. Instead, he began ditching and failing any of his classes that had in-person work. He fought with his parents about his future and his goals. His younger brother no longer admired him. If Brennan couldn't be the son his parents wanted, then Aiden would bear the brunt instead and resentment formed.

One night, in a complete crisis, a message came through on one of his online games. It was a stranger promising a solution to the ache in his soul. When he attempted to trace the message, it came up as something unknowable and the source was soon inside his room. A demon of sloth was there to offer him a deal. In exchange for his soul, he could spend the entirety of his life as he liked. His parents would no longer badger him to succeed in the way they wanted.
